The GardaLo! Festival returns in 2024 with an edition involving the entire Lake Garda area.
The 2024 programme kicks off with the opening of the festival at the Vittoriale Amphitheatre and with three meetings on board the Navigarda motorboats, which will animate the first two weekends of October on Saturday and Sunday 5-6 and 12-13.
The inauguration is entrusted to the Youth section curated by Paola Veneto, which will open the Festival with a lectio magistralis by the philosopher Umberto Galimberti entitled ‘La condizione giovanile nell'età del nichilismo’ (free admission) on Saturday 5 October at 21.00 in the Amphitheatre of the Vittoriale.
Instead, the second scheduled appointment, curated by Giovanni Iozzia, is in the Innovation section: on Sunday, 6 October, Massimo Canducci, manager of innovation and popularizer of frontier technologies, will board the Navigarda motorship (departing from Sirmione at 11.55 a.m., arriving at Garda), accompanying the navigation with a dialogue on ‘Pieces of the Future. Our life with artificial intelligence'. The expert, who leads innovation in a large company and is the author of several books on the impact of technology in society, will lead those present in a roundabout reflection: how will our lives change? Will artificial intelligence take away jobs? Does it entail more risks or opportunities?
Saturday 12 October will be the turn of the Show, curated by Viola Costa: the Navigarda motorship will set sail from Salò with destination Sirmione at 11.29 a.m., guest Giovanni Truppi, singer-songwriter and author of the book L'avventura (La Nave di Teseo, 2021). And it is precisely the adventure that is the protagonist of the book that will be the subject of the meeting with the public: a journey actually undertaken by the author in the summer of 2020, with a dismountable piano and a camper van, for a handful of concerts held along the entire perimeter of the Italian coast, from the border with France to that with Slovenia. The tale of an Italy that is only seemingly minor and perfectly contemporary, which awakens a memory that gathers everyone, in the generations of each summer, and pushes us towards the desire for the next one to come.
On Sunday 13 October, the appointment that will close this third edition of the Festival will see Literature as the protagonist, in the section curated by Luigi Mascheroni: the writer Alain Elkann will present his new release, Il silenzio di Pound (Bompiani), a novel that, through research and analysis of the figure of the great and controversial man of letters, investigates the depths of the relationship between the artist and his art. The appointment is always with the Navigarda motorboat, departing from Desenzano del Garda at 11.25 a.m. and arriving in Bardolino.
