The beating heart of Padenghe sul Garda is within the walls of the oldest castle in Valtenesi. From its hill-top perch, it watches over the entire southern area of the lake. In summer, in the small theatre set up between the walls and the houses, theatrical and musical events bring tourists and locals together. The small Romanesque parish church of Sant'Emiliano surrounded by vineyards is the right vantage point for admiring the sunrise: the lake, the Sirmione peninsula and the blazing sphere of the sun rising from the east make this a spectacular setting.
