Salò
cultural capital of Lake Garda
Historically, Salò is the cultural centre of Lake Garda. The right place to find a special gift, to shop, to relax while admiring the beautiful bay. Along the central street, which runs from the Torre dell’Orologio (Clock Tower) to the cathedral, is a succession of shops and boutiques selling interesting wares. A statue of Gasparo da Salò, the father of the modern violin, stands on the lakeside promenade. A section of the Mu.Sa. museum is dedicated to refined Brescian violin making: as you admire the lustre of these bows, you can almost hear them singing.
