Thousands of brightly coloured sails ply the waves of Campione, the village on the lake, all year round. The winds that intensely blow from dawn to dusk, as the famous "Peler" in the morning and the “Ora" in the afternoon, make it a paradise for wind surfing - kite surfing - sailing - windsurfing. Schools, teachers and the local sailing club offer classes for children and adults. It also offers the opportunity to enjoy the sun and the water of the beaches on the lake. Campione occupies the small alluvial fan formed by the river of the same name, at the foot of the steep mountain. Here, on the initiative of Giacomo Feltrinelli, a cotton mill was built in 1896, with houses made for workers, the school, theatre, church, vegetable gardens. It was a real industrial village where the main facilities are still in evidence. With the closure of the factory in 1981, the people of Campione had to come up with a new economy: they found it in tourism, thanks to the wind that blows constantly here. So they developed windsurfing and sailing, which attract many enthusiasts throughout the year.
