The Park, established in 2006, covers an area of 514 hectares between Lonato, Desenzano and the shores of Lake Garda on the Gulf of Padenghe. The landscape is characterised by gentle moraine hills, formed by the expansion and retreat of glaciers, arranged in wide arches. Small rural settlements blend harmoniously with woods, vineyards, olive groves, cultivated fields and permanent meadows. The natural environment, combined with the mild climate of Lake Garda, has led man, over time, to terrace part of the land to cultivate olive trees, vines and cereals. From the tops of the highest hills, the peaks of Monte Corno, Monte Alto, Monte Croce and Belvedere offer enchanting views of the lake or the inland morainic system. The Madergnano Ring is a short but interesting circular route within the local park.
