The monumental complex commemorates the battle fought here on 24 June 1859 between the Austrian army and the Franco-Piedmontese. At the entrance of the tower, 64 metres high, the visitor is greeted by the statues of the protagonists of the unification of Italy: The frescoes along the ramp retrace the events of the Risorgimento and from the terrace you can enjoy a 360° view. The museum displays weapons, relics, documents and objects used by the soldiers, while the nearby chapel ossuary houses the bones of thousands of the fallen.
